The new Nanotransponder is just 7mm long & 1.25mm diameter!! This compares to the conventional implantable microchips that measure 11mm x 2.2mm diameter - that’s nearly HALF the size!!
This implantable microchip is the answer for identification of very small birds, reptiles, microbats, frogs and small or young mammals!!
This is a Trovan Unique (FDX-A) microchip and the typical read ranges are:
- LID560 Pocket Reader = 1.5 - 2cms
- GR250 and GR251 readers = 4cms
- LID500 = 5.5 to 6.0cms
- PR-1M pole reader = approx 8.0cms
- LID650 Ant 610F = 1.5 to 2.0cms
- LID650 Ant 611 = 3.0 to 4.0cms
- LID650 Ant 612 = approx 1.0cm
Implantation is via a smaller gauge needle than the conventional microchips (about 17gauge)and is supplied in a sterile blister pack containing the pre-sterilised needle with the Nanotransponder inside. The Nanotransponder is implanted using a Trovan customised reusable implanter that is different to the implanter used for other Trovan impantable transponders.
